December 2025 Update
Dear All,
Happy December! It is hard to believe another year is nearly over and 2026 - our nation's 250th anniversary - is just around the corner. I hope you are all savoring the many joys the holiday season brings.
What's New?
What a success our Crate History Campaign has been! We have raised $1,445 in just over a month! Thank you to all who have supported us so far. We are over half-way to reaching our $2,400 goal.
Every donation will ensure that our volunteers' work is protected for years to come through the commission of a bespoke art crate to transport the panels on a 2+ year exhibition tour.
If you would like to support us, please consider donating and sharing our GoFundMe Page with your community.
Young Patriots at Work
America's Tapestry welcomes all individuals - regardless of age or experience - to stitch on our panels. One of the most enriching aspects about our project is witnessing hands as young as 5 learn the joys of needlework, and sharing in these joys with their family and community.
New Jersey volunteer Kathleen Anderson's grandson, Alex (age 6), became interested in the work his grandmother was doing on America's Tapestry and asked if he could participate. Of course, she said yes!
Take a moment to look at the beautiful embroidery he has done so far. Notice what is in the upper left corner - the number "250" - to commemorate America's 250th anniversary!
Kathleen was so impressed with his work she asked him to embroider a cabbage in the Spider Rose stitch on her embroidery sample. You can see his cabbage on the far left next to the patch of lavender.
The New Jersey team has challenged Alex to place 250 stitches onto the New Jersey tapestry. He has 183 stitches left to go!
The Delaware panel has embarked on an exciting partnership with the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay! Throughout the next several months, the panel will be stitched by Girl Scouts from various troops across the region.
Troop Leader Heather Burket: "Our girls were excited to practice a new life skill and contribute to the 250th anniversary of American history in a positive way! Highly recommend GS troop involvement. Amy and Becky were patient teachers and a pleasure to work with!"
A job well done!
Thank you to all the scouts, troop leaders, and our fearless Delaware directors Amy Gilley and Becky Gutin for making this partnership possible!
A Convening of the New England Panels
On November 1st, the four New England panels of America's Tapestry - Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire - participated in the Embroiderers' Guild of America (EGA) Region Day in Nashua, NH.
It was the first time (and likely the only time!) four panels from our project congregated in the same room prior to the exhibition next year. It was a historic moment! America's Tapestry was hosted in the event's Studio Time room where EGA members and the public alike were invited to visit, stitch, and learn more about our project.
Thank you to our wonderful state directors and many state volunteers who traveled with their panels and supplies to attend the event, as well as the entire EGA New England Region for their generous hospitality.
Tapestry Talk - South Carolina
Have a look on our webpage to see the interviews I conducted while visiting with South Carolina director Karen Wallach and her team of embroiderers in October. We had such a wonderful turnout!
Over the course of the video, you can learn more about each volunteer, their background, and what inspired them to join America's Tapestry.

Stitcher Spotlight: Meet Corinne Burr!
Corinne Burr is an embroiderer on the North Carolina tapestry panel. A resident of Raleigh, NC, she has been stitching for about 5 years.
Having learned embroidery through a book on thread painting purchased at a thrift store, Corinne has practiced various techniques including cross stitch, surface embroidery, and raised embroidery.
A California native, Corinne has deeply enjoyed learning more about the history of North Carolina while working on the tapestry. She was particularly excited to work on a large community project such as America's Tapestry after reading "The Threads of Life" by Claire Hunter, which discussed impactful needlework projects such as the Great Tapestry of Scotland.
Thank you for donating your time and talent, Corinne!
