Stitchers

Tracy Blanchard is an embroiderer on the New Hampshire tapestry panel. A resident of Newburyport, she has been stitching for over 5 years. Having learned embroidery through her parents, Youtube, and courses (online and in person), Tracy has practiced canvaswork or needlepoint, surface embroidery, knitting, and crochet. While working on the panel, Tracy has utilized the blanket stitch, satin stitch, buttonhole stitch, and nested stem stitch. Tracy can trace her family’s heritage back to the Salem witch trials, where one of her ancestors was found guilty of witchcraft. Tracy loves that many of the stories on the panels are not regularly known but show off small ways a person can make their voice heard. For our nation’s 250th anniversary, Tracy hopes we can tap into our larger sense of community.
