Stitchers

Tanya Sander is an embroiderer on the Massachusetts tapestry panel. A resident of Rochester, she has been stitching for over 40 years. Having learned embroidery through kits and online & in-person classes, Tanya has practiced canvaswork or needlepoint, counted work, metal thread embroidery, pulled/drawn thread embroidery, surface embroidery, knitting, and lace making. While working on the panel, Tanya has utilized the split stitch, reverse chain stitch, bullion, Bayeux tapestry stitch, couched gold thread, straight stitch, satin stitch, and woven wheel. She loved doing the goldwork on the panel. This is the first time she had ever tried the bullion stitch, which was a lot of fun! Tanya chose to be part of America's Tapestry to be part of something historic for our nation's anniversary.
