Sue Polumbo
Stitcher, Connecticut
Sue Polumbo is an embroiderer on the Connecticut tapestry panel. A resident of Suffield, CT, she has been stitching for over 50 years. While on vacation in 1972, Sue discovered embroidery after picking up a crewel kit at a grocery store. After her high school friend opened an embroidery shop in 1977, Sue was introduced to the Embroiderers' Guild of America (EGA) and has been a member since 1982. Sue has practiced beading, cross stitch, canvaswork, counted work, gold work, quilting, crochet, among other fiber arts techniques. While working on the panel, Sue has utilized several counted stitches, including cross stitch. She can trace her father's maternal side to 17th century Colchester, CT. Sue joined the project out of a desire to participate in a 250th anniversary event.
