Sherry Gould

Stitcher, New Hampshire

Sherry Gould is an embroiderer who has contributed to the Massachusetts and New Hampshire tapestry panels. A resident of Warner, New Hampshire, she has been stitching for over 50 years. Sherry learned to cross stitch when she was younger by reading books and practicing. Prior to joining America's Tapestry, she practiced beading, cross stitch, quilting, knitting, crochet, and spinning wool, flax, and milkweed, as well as twining fabric from hand-spun fibers.

While working on the panels, Sherry has utilized the satin, stem, and split stitch. Her favorite is the split stitch. All the types of stitches she used on the panel were new to her, and petit point was the most challenging. Sherry is descended from Abenaki and British-colonial ancestors and is a 13th-generation New Hampshire resident on her colonial side. Since joining, Sherry has learned that Fort William and Mary and the Pine Tree Riot are not common knowledge. Sherry looks forward to us becoming even stronger together.
