Stitchers

Ruth Gross is an embroiderer on the Massachusetts tapestry panel. A resident of Lakeville, she has been stitching for over 50 years. Having learned embroidery through female family members, Ruth has practiced quilting, including piecework and appliqué. While working on the panel, Ruth has utilized the split stitch, chain stitch, and fly stitch - the latter a new technique for her! Eager to take on the challenge of a large embroidery project, Ruth joined our efforts. As our nation approaches 250 years, Ruth hopes that we reflect on what freedom truly means.
