Stitchers

Marianne Hearsey is an embroiderer from Rock Hill, South Carolina and has been an active stitcher on her state's panel. Embroidering for about 10 years, Marianne has learned various techniques through guild members and watching online tutorials. Prior to working on the tapestry, she practiced pulled or drawn thread, quilting techniques includes piecework and appliqué. Marianne has used back stitch and the chain stitch on the panel as well as thread painting, a new skill. While working on America's Tapestry, Marianne learned about the pivotal role South Carolina played in the American Revolution.
