Judy Laning
Stitcher, Virginia
Judy Laning is an embroiderer on the Virginia tapestry panel. A resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, she has been stitching since she was a child. Judy learned to embroider from her mother and grandmother, and has also taken numerous classes over the years. Prior to joining America's Tapestry, she practiced counted thread embroidery, 17th century techniques, and knitting.
While working on the panel, Judy has utilized the straight stitch. She was inspired to join the project through her friend Christine Theron Parkes, and has also worked on the Plymouth Jacket and the Pocahontas Jacket projects. She is looking forward to a great next 250 years!
