Stitchers

Graciela White is an embroiderer on the North Carolina tapestry panel. Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, she has been stitching for over 30 years. Having learned embroidery through her mother in Argentina, Graciela has practiced knitting, beading, and crochet. While working on the panel, Graciela has used the buttonhole stitch and the Smyrna cross - the latter being a favorite of hers. Graciela traces her involvement on the panel to North Carolina director Gail Smith, whose enthusiasm for the project was contagious! Looking towards America's 250th anniversary, Graciela hopes for unity and less division.
