Stitchers

Georgianna Sergovic Avioli is an embroiderer on the Virginia tapestry panel. A resident of Williamsburg, Virginia since 1972, she has been stitching for over 70 years. Georgianna learned to embroider from her mother when she was a child. Prior to joining America's Tapestry, she practiced crochet, knitting, and embroidery.

While working on the panel, Georgianna has utilized the long stitch. She was inspired to join the project because it will be a work of art in which she has a part. As America celebrates 250 years, Georgianna looks forward to seeing the nation's next chapter.
