Fran Roscello
Stitcher, New York
Fran Roscello is an embroiderer on the New York tapestry panel. A resident of Rensselaer, she has been stitching for over 40 years. Having learned embroidery from her mother and a variety of other sources, Fran has practiced canvaswork or needlepoint, counted Work that isn't cross stitch, and crochet. While working on the panel, Fran has utilized the bargello stitch on Congress cloth, tent, and slanted stitches. Fran was intrigued by the America's Tapestry project and wanted to support her Embroiderers' Guild of America Chapter by volunteering her time and talent. While working on the panel, Fran has learned more about the role of Black Loyalists in the American Revolution. Looking towards our nation's anniversary, Fran hopes that we continue to be a nation respecting the rights of all people.
